God desires our obedience, and if we love God, we want to do what he says. In this 3 minute audio devotional, I describe a devotional plan I use to help me discern what God is saying so that I can do it. Find a regular way of connecting with God so that you can hear from him and obey what he is telling you. In carpentry, the phrase "measure twice, cut once" is used to encourage people to slow down, focus on what's important, and be careful. Our faith is the same: instead of getting caught up in division and other people's power-plays, we need to "measure twice" by focusing on our own spiritual growth and then the spiritual growth of others. I taught at a leadership camp for teenagers last month. Using the prophet Elisha as a model, I developed an outline of 10 leadership and character lessons. This file is my outline. I'm interested in any feedback you'd like to offer. ![]()
1. Be completely sold out for God (1 Kings 19:19-21).
The devotional guide this week includes readings and questions from Psalm 119:121-144 and John 1:19-51. These are the scripture texts we'll read and study in worship on Sunday. Please invite a friend! We'll be spending some time in John over the summer and early fall, and we can give your friends a copy of the Gospel of John that they can read and refer to throughout. Also, if you find this devotional guide useful, please share it with others! ![]()
