In Acts 3, Peter and John meet a lame man at the temple. The man is begging, asking for alms. He is focused on his perceived needs (money) and even though he is at the temple he misses what is most important, what he really needs. So Peter gives him what he really needs--Jesus--and he heals the man in the name of Jesus. Peter follows this up with a sermon about not rejecting Jesus, but listening to him.
The temptation is for us to focus on our own needs, or even to use God to further ourselves. We need to keep our eyes on Jesus, the Author of life.
