Jesus teaches two parables about prayer in Luke 18. Last week, we looked at how Jesus teaches us to persevere in prayer (18:1-8). This week, we examine how Jesus teaches us to be sincere and humble in our prayers, not looking down on others.
Jesus teaches a simple parable that we should always pray and never give up. But his challenge at the end--will he find faith on the earth?--brings his teaching into our lives. Will we keep praying and working for justice?
Jeremiah sent a letter to the survivors of the exile. The letter exhorted the people to not dwell on the past but move ahead in hope. For a church that has survived, this message of hope has much to say to us as well.
