What did Jesus mean when he called himself the good shepherd?
God gave the Law to Israel as part of a covenant with them, to lead them to a proper fear of him that would result in obedience, not sin.
More reflection on Jesus' role as the Good Shepherd, specifically, that he protects us so that no one can snatch us away from the Father.
Jesus is the good shepherd.
The Lord said, and the people did. The Passover was God's means for deliverance of his people. It was also a type of Christ, our Passover lamb, who delivers us.
God reveals himself and his purposes in such a way that we ought to stand in awe of him...so why don't we?
Jesus said, "I am the light of the world."
